Police carried out speed checks last Wednesday morning (27th April) at the entrance to Long Wittenham between 7:30 and 8:20. Equipment was set up just outside Lower Farm at the start of the 30mph zone to monitor traffic coming into the village from the direction of Clifton Hampden. During this time seventy-three vehicles travelled through. Twelve vehicles exceeded 35mph with the highest reading being 39mph. The vehicles will be added to the police speedwatch database and drivers sent warning letters. The police say they will be back again soon.
