It has been announced that, following the appointment process in January, The Bishop of Dorchester and the Team Rector will appoint the Revd Canon Mark Haworth as Associate Team Vicar (HfD)* in the Dorchester Team Ministry, within which he will take pastoral responsibility for the three parishes known as the Bridge Group.
Mark hails from Lancashire and graduated in Forestry at Aberdeen. He then worked with the Forestry Commission in the Scottish Borders, Lake District, East Anglia and the English Marches.
He trained for the priesthood at Westcott House in Cambridge, becoming a curate and then parish priest in the Ely diocese, also being appointed Rural Dean of Fordham. He moved to Manchester in 2005 after working as a School Chaplain in Framlingham and as Bishop’s Chaplain in Peterborough.
In Manchester Mark worked in parish groupings in Salford and Rochdale, having a particular involvement with schools and youth work. He also co-tutored newly-ordained curates and served on the Bishop’s Council, Diocesan Synod and various task groups.
Mark is currently Team Rector of the Lark Valley and North Bury Team Ministry, Honorary Canon of St Edmundsbury Cathedral, and Rural Dean of Thingoe in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich where he has served for nearly seven years.
Mark will be licensed in Dorchester Abbey on Tuesday 31st March 2020 at 7.30pm and everyone will be welcome at the service.
