Your Village, Your Voice

We need your ideas. This is your chance to get involved .... and produce a Community-Led Plan  for the Future

In order to understand the priorities for the future of our area and direct efforts and funds, a steering group has been formed. The aim is to capture your views into a new  Wittenham Vision.

The steering group wants your help to develop this vision and plan, which will set out what areas should be improved over the next 5 - 10 years.  This wide ranging plan will cover everything from transport to sports facilities, and housing to community events. It is important that the plan is written by the community, for the community, so that it reflects the real needs as you see them.

Introducing Wittenham Vision
The steering group is made up of a variety of people from the community, but is an open and informal group and everyone is invited and encouraged to join in.

Our aim is to listen and take on board your constructive ideas, views and concerns for the future of our community. We have a fantastic village and strong community spirit, as witnessed in traditional events like the Church Fete and May Day celebrations, as well as participation in charity events and support for school fundraising. These activities bring our community together and support charitable efforts. Working together in association with the Parish Council we can build an even better community to benefit ourselves and the next generation.

What has changed ?
Is it better …. or is it worse ?
That’s up to YOU
Yes you can make the difference

Last year’s Open Day gave many of you a chance to see the activities and groups that go on in the village and to comment on issues that affect your lives.
We now need to develop your ideas into our Wittenham Vision – a detailed document outlining a blueprint of future developments and improvements in our area, built upon your feedback.

More Facilities in the Village
This vision and plan is now more important than ever because the bodies providing the much needed grants that may help turn your ideas into reality are increasingly asking for evidence from the community to show that the proposals address a real need. This Vision document will provide a clear view of the needs of the community, and may make it easier to get funding and hopefully make these projects happen.

Clearly we will not be able to achieve everything and we will all have a part to play in making the plan work.  However, you can be confident that by contributing your ideas and working together this process will result in positive enhancements to the village and our community.

Next Steps :

  • After some initial discussions, a Questionnaire will be produced and circulated to every property in the village. It will formalise the process and allow us to gather real data for analysis. Please take the time to complete your form and give us your views.
  • Your feedback from the Questionnaires will allow us to compile a Final Vision Report to be presented to the Parish Council.

This is your chance to get involved – please make sure your views are heard. If you want to know more or be involved please contact one of the Steering Group members :
