Weekend Treats stall at school. We have been working with the village school PTA who ran a "Weekend Treats" stall last Friday in the school grounds.  A group of mums ran a stall at the end of the school day selling flowers, magazines, a range of treats (from good apple juice to biscuits), local eggs, fruit, some essentials and others.  Coffee, tea, cake, soft drinks and sweets were also provided. There was a good buzz at the stall with lots of parents, helpers and teachers having a drink, bite to eat and buying a few goods.  The biggest sellers were the drinks, home baked goods (cakes, quiches, etc.), local eggs and flowers.  Essentials and magazines were less popular - probably due to lower demand, but maybe to some extent because these weren't expected. The stall sold almost £300 worth of goods and made a profit of £87 which was donated to Comic Relief and the school.The mums are considering whether this will be run in future and if so how often.

Local directory. At the last meeting we discussed our proposed production of the directory of local producers/suppliers/shops and everyone was very enthusiastic and keen to see whether we can finalise and distribute it in the next couple of months. We hope to compile this over the next month or so and then to distribute it for the start of the summer.

Village market. A number of people have said that they are interested to help run a village market - maybe as a trial initially for a couple of months and then to see whether it could be more regular.  Options for venue include village hall, The Vine car park, school grounds and others. Some elements of the Weekend Treats stall at school worked well and would transfer to a village market format - drinks/cakes/flowers/etc were fairly easy to organise and made most profit, as well as making quite a nice community event feel.
