SATURDAY 13TH MARCH 2010 - Nearly New Sale
Long Wittenham Pre-School is holding a Nearly New Sale of baby & children’s clothes, toys & nursery equipment on Saturday 13th March from 10-12 noon at Long Wittenham Village Hall.  Remember the best bargains go to the early risers!  If you would like to sell any items or need more information please contact Debbie Croft on 01865 407585. WEDNESDAY 24TH MARCH 2010 - Pendon Museum Open Evening
The Volunteers at Pendon Museum cordially invite you and your family to attend an open evening at the Museum.  This is an ideal opportunity for Long Wittenham residents to meet some of our volunteers and to hear about our latest plans. The Museum was recently featured on BBC TV 'James May's TV stories' so come along and find out more. A light buffet will be served, on Wednesday 24th March 2010, from 6.00 pm - 8.30 pm.

SUNDAY 28TH MARCH 2010 - Car Boot Sale
Long Wittenham School Association is holding a car boot sale on Sunday 28th March from 11.00am to 2.00pm in the school grounds.  The cost is £8 per car (no large vans please) and advance payment (non refundable) must be received no later than Friday 19 th March.  Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis so please be aware that, due to limited space, numbers are restricted.  If you would like to book a pitch then please speak/text Nicky Folkman on 07905210755 or email:  nickyfolkman@googlemail.com to avoid disappointment! 

If you don't want to sell then please just come along and see if any treasures can be found!

SUNDAY 28TH MARCH 2010 - Pooh Sticks World Championships
One of those quirky English pastimes, if you've never been you simply must go and join with 3000 others from all over the world to raise money for the RNLI. To learn more, take a look at this article from the Observer, and visit www.pooh-sticks.com see you there!

SUNDAY 30TH MAY 2010 - Evelegh's Garden Open Day
Plant Sale, WI Teas and art exhibition supporting village charities. Evelegh's Garden, Long Wittenham open for the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday 30th May, 2010.   2.00-6.00.  Entry £3.50, under 16 free, sorry no dogs.  Further details and pictures on NGS website www.ngs.org.uk

CHRISTMAS FAYRE

SAINT MARY'S CHURCH TRADITIONAL FETE
Long Wittenham’s traditional Annual Church Fete will be held as usual on August Bank Holiday Monday, August 31st at the Plough Inn, Long Wittenham, from 2.00 to 5.00 pm. Come along, bring your friends and family for an enjoyable afternoon at this delightful riverside venue, visit the many stalls and try your skills at the variety of games available.

Long Wittenham Village 5k Fun Run
The second annual LW Fun Run attracted more then 150 participants and many spectators ensuring the day was a great success. All results are now available online at www.wittenhamfunrun.org.uk

May Queen crowning and celebrations
Come and join this ancient celebration on Firday 1st May 2009 at the village Cross at 6pm. Watch the traditional crowning of the May Queen and country dancing by the children of the village. Return to the Plough for further celebrations and general fun afterwards!

'My Grandfather's Great War' - The Oxford Playhouse, Friday 20th March at 5pm
An undeniably powerful drama interweaving the First World War diaries of Captain Alexander Stewart with the contemporary perspective of his grandson, the actor Cameron Stewart. Many of you will remember Bill Stewart and his wife Daphne who used to live on Fieldside. Cameron is Bill's son and he has written a book about his Grandfather and his experiences in the trenches of the Somme. His book has been well received and has been turned into a play which was nominated for an award at the Edinbrugh Festival. Cameron is bringing this play to Oxford. Tickets are only £8.50 / £6.50.
