Appleford Railway Bridge 3rd June 2021

The Network Management Team at Oxfordshire County Council has advised the Parish Council that the road over Appleford Railway Bridge will be closed in June whilst essential repair and maintenance work is carried out.

A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (see below) is being made to implement the temporary closure and will operate from 3rd June 2021 up to and including 20th June 2021.  This is a 24 hour road closure.

A copy of the drawing showing the extent of the closure and the alternative route for traffic is here.

Further information regarding the works may be obtained by contacting Nick Sheppard of Chervron TM on 0845 1230111 or email Nick.Sheppard@chevrontm.com quoting reference T8832/AC.

Long Wittenham is already full up with cars with the Culham Bridge closed. Here we go for another 3 weeks of fun!!!!!

This is pathetic, you’ve left the “Road Closed” signs up but you’re not actually doing any work. This is stopping delivery drivers getting through and forcing some people to drive a long way out of their way. Yes the delivery drivers could, and should, follow diversions but they aren’t bothering, they are simply taking photos of your sign and saying they can’t get to us. In all honesty though you shouldn’t be closing roads for 3 weeks and then NOT DOING ANY WORK!
I have no doubt at all that we’ll reach the 20th of June, you’ll leave the signs in place and you’ll still not have even started the work you’re meant to be doing right now.
