Consultation on Electric Vehicles

South Oxfordshire District Council is working with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) on a project to install electric vehicle charging points in a range of public car parks in 2021.  As part of that work, the county council has launched a survey gathering data on residents’ opinions on electric vehicles.

The survey will close on 23rd October 2020.

The results of the survey will inform decisions on public charging infrastructure across the whole county.  The survey is on the OCC website.

My son has just got an electric car and recently had a very stressful return journey from Portsmouth as charging points were few and far between, so the proposed project sounds a good idea.

I would also like to add that the silent nature of his new car scared me, especially when he had to drive round cars parked right on the corner. He was both invisible and inaudible to any child on a bike.

It would be better if poor parking was policed properly. Back in the day parking on a corner, on zig zags or in a way that blocked visibility for pedestrians would have got a ticket and 3 points on your licence. Pedestrians shouldn’t need to “hear” a car because they can’t see it.
