County Councillor Re-elected

Dr Pete Sudbury has retained his Wallingford seat on Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) for the Green Party.  In Thursday’s election he polled 2,111 votes, beating his nearest rival, the Conservative candidate Lee Upcraft who polled 1,183.  Labour’s George Ryall was bottom with 290 votes.

Dr Sudbury gained 59% of the vote, well ahead of Mr Upcraft with 33%.  Mr Ryall captured 8%.  The total number of votes cast was 3,584.  There was a 43% turn out.

The Conservatives retain control of the county council but do not have an overall majority and will have to rely on the support of other councillors.  Dr Sudbury was elected two years ago in a by-election caused by the resignation of Lynda Atkins.  He represents Wallingford, Brightwell-cum-Sotwell and the Wittenhams.

The full details are on the OCC website.

One Response to County Councillor Re-elected

  1. Stephen Brown says:

You may recall Lynda resigned to take up the well deserved roll of Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire on top of her other charitable work related to the Armed Services .
