Work has finished on restoring a section of public footpath between the western end of Fieldside and Saxons Heath. Some of the path had narrowed because of encroachment from the adjacent field but now the full width of the path has been restored.
In an attempt to improve drainage to the road near the allotments close to the Acklings play area and opposite the Three Poplars mobile homes park, two channels have been cut into the grass verge. It is hoped that rain water which collects in the road after long spells of wet weather will drain into the ditch.
The parish council is also examining the footpath outside The Old Vicarage in High Street. It is planned to widen part of the footpath by cutting into the grass verge. This will widen the path and make it easier for pedestrians.
