Forge Lane, Clifton Hampden

Residents may be wondering why Forge Lane in Clifton Hampden has been subject to traffic restrictions this week.  Oxfordshire County Council have advised that vegetation clearance and a topographical survey is taking place alongside a short section of the road.  These are enabling works with a view to improving this cycling route in 2018/2019.

The works started on Monday 5th February and are expected to last for approximately two weeks – subject to weather conditions.  The working hours are 9.30 to 15.30 to avoid peak-time traffic and minimize the inconvenience to road users.

I don’t recall receiving prior notification. The road has been closed outside of these hours. 5th and 6th traffic has been queuing to get over the bridge back into Long Wittenham.

Unfortunately, OCC did not advise the parish council of the traffic restrictions until 6th February and then there was some confusion over the dates affected.
