Going Forward Buses Update

Community bus services between Long Wittenham and Didcot face disruption as the Coronavirus emergency tightens its grip on travel and social activities.

Going Forward Buses which runs the service, say that services may be subject to short-notice cancellations.  Passengers are warned that if they are waiting for a bus and it hasn’t arrived within fifteen minutes, then they should check Facebook or call the bus company.

See company’s website www.goingforwardbuses.com for details of the changes or call 07484 605888.

Managing director Mike Ward said: “Passenger numbers are down considerably, so we may need to make some semi-permanent adjustments to our timetables to better reflect demand.  We are not expecting to ask our volunteers to help so we ask all customers to bear with us during this very difficult period.”

The bus company accepts concessionary bus passes but not cash.  The company asks passengers to put the correct fare in a red ‘donation’ box.  If travellers do not have the right money they are asked to donate the difference to help keep the buses running.  In this way neither the passenger nor the driver will have to make contact.

Mr Ward said: “Please heed the government’s advice on limiting travel and stay indoors.  Going Forward Buses will miss having you on board but your continued health is most important.  Hopefully when things get back to normal we will be able to run our full service again.”
