High Street Closure

As if the confusion over the Lady Grove closure was not enough, the Parish Council has just been informed by Network Management at Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) of a temporary emergency road closure on the High Street whilst urgent works to restore customer service works are carried out for public safety reasons.

The temporary closure will operate between 09:30 and 15:30 from 17th August 2020 up to and including 21st August 2020.

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for those frontages within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works and liaison with the works supervisor.

See the plan of the closure and diversions.

    Good grief!
    We are almost hemmed in!

Once again I ignored the road close sign this afternoon, what did I find? Two “Openreach” trucks parked by the verge and a cable being laid in the verge. There was no need to close the road at all as the “blockage” was no worse, in fact it was less, than when school is arriving and departing. No advance warning was given, cars were coming up from Didcot and suddenly being confronted by a “road closed” – when in wasn’t.

Who are the idiots responsible for this nonsense?
