New Footpath Warden

The village has a new footpath warden.  He is David Corney who has lived in Long Wittenham for eleven years.  David grew up in Oxford but says he feels at home in the Long Wittenham area.  Until two years ago he was the Director of the Scientific Computing Department at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

He said: “I have now taken partial retirement, and spend much of my days walking my dogs along the many footpaths around Long Wittenham.  We are very lucky to have such a rich footpath network and I am pleased to take on the role of footpath warden.  I will try to ensure that our paths are kept open and usable wherever possible.”

If residents have any issues about footpaths in the area they should direct them through the parish council clerk Martin Elliff who can be contacted at longwittpc@hotmail.co.uk.
