New Play Area Swings Into Action

Work on the new £14,500 playground area at Bodkin’s Field has been completed.  There is a new basket swing, jigsaw climbing tower and slide, toddler rocker, see-saw, balance beam, chin-up bars and parallel bars.

South Oxfordshire District Council has funded half the cost, the parish council contributed £2,500, and the rest has come from fund raising events in the village this year.  Nearly £700 is outstanding but this is expected to be covered by profits from the village bonfire night in Ward’s Field on 4th November.

Children can play on the playground immediately but the official opening is scheduled for next spring.  Fencing may also be added to protect the play equipment close to the football goal area.

Catherine Harrison who has led the campaign to provide the facilities said: “This has been a fantastic journey and our thanks are due to everyone who has supported the campaign.”

“We plan to hold an event at Bodkin’s next spring to encourage people to come and have a look at all the work and to say thank you to the many people who have been involved.”

Congratulations to Catherine.. It is fantastic to see what can be achieved when someone takes the lead to pull the community together. I am looking forward to taking my granddaughter to the new play area.
