Work will start next month on a £12,000 scheme to replace the equipment at the Westfield toddlers’ play area. The Parish Council has secured a grant of more than £4,500 from the FCC Communities Foundation, a non-profit company funded by landfill tax which supports the environment.
The council is backing the project with a grant of £7,200 and South Oxfordshire District Council and the village social group Wittenham Warriors have also made contributions.
The parents of young children in the village were asked for their views on what type of play equipment should be installed. There will be a new tower structure and slide, a spring seat and fencing.
The project is being led by parish councillor Sally Duff who said: “The old play equipment was look tired and was showing signs of wear and tear. It would need to have been replaced in the near future to meet to health and safety guidelines.”
