OCC Infrastructure Bid Success

It was announced in this week’s Government Spring Statement that the bid by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) for funding infrastructure to support the housing growth in the district has been successful and the county will receive funding from the government’s Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF).

The bid was related to four major transport schemes for the southern Oxfordshire area:

  • a Didcot Science Bridge on the A4130 – going over the railway line and Didcot A Power Station site and joining the A4130 Northern Perimeter Road
  • improvements to the A4130 from the Milton Interchange by making it a dual carriageway
  • a new Didcot to Culham river crossing to the west of the railway line
  • a Clifton Hampden bypass

A map showing these schemes is here.

Although the details of these projects have yet to be finalised, this brings the much needed new river crossing a step closer, which is very good news for Long Wittenham.
