Painting and Life Drawing Classes

Residents with an artistic bent may be interested to hear that art classes will be starting soon on Wednesday mornings at Clifton Hampden Village Hall.

Run by Charisse Gardiner, who has been teaching painting, drawing and life drawing since 1998, the classes are suitable for all levels of ability and experience, and cover all the basic elements of painting and life drawing, including tone, composition and colour.

Painting Classes

The painting classes are suitable for all levels of ability and experience and cover all the basic elements of painting, including tone, composition and colour.  Students learn to observe and discuss art works, continually drawing inspiration and references from art throughout history while exploring different techniques and concepts within exciting Projects.  You will also explore ways in which to express your ideas and thoughts into the art making process.

In addition, colour workshops are frequently held during the art class where we cover the essential concepts of colour theory and practise.

Easels, Boards and pegs are provided.

Life Drawing Sessions

All levels of ability and experience are welcome.  These sessions provide a wonderful opportunity to work untutored at your own pace.  Charisse will be available throughout the session for those who would like tuition and will cover all the basic elements of life drawing including form, tone and drawing techniques with emphasis on observation of the human form.

You will typically begin with some short warm-up poses then move into longer poses. There will also be occasional evenings to explore themes.

Easels, boards and pegs are provided, and charcoal and paper will be available to purchase.  Feel free to bring your own materials.

The classes will run on Wednesdays from 10am until 12.30pm starting on 6th November. The cost is £12 per session.
