I am unable to attend but would like this issue raised . The new road narrowing on the road from Didcot to the village where the new houses are is badly lite on the island at night if raining you can hardly see the bollard which is black! I see it has already been hit . This should be white and well lite. I am not a fast driver but in pouring rain I found it difficult to see entering the village as a resident and I knew it was there

  2. Stephen Brown says:

Dear Ann. Thank you for raising this issue. A few weeks ago I met with our County Councillor and several Traffic and Road Safety staff from OCC for a walk through the village.

While on our walkabout a resident suggested the bollards should be white and this was put to the last PC meeting where we agreed to ask OCC to replace all the bollards on the 3 road narrowings with white bollards. OCC have agreed to do this and only yesterday I had confirmation that the white bollards have been ordered.

On our walkabout we also identified a lot of signs that are no longer needed following the reduction of the speed limit from 30 to 20 mph and these surplus signs will be removed to “de-clutter” the village.

When’s the keep clear writing going to be done ?and when are the lights on pedestrian crossing going to be on?

    • Stephen Brown says:

Dear Donna. I raised the issue of the keep clear with OC and this is the reply I received on 1st November.

      Dear Steve

Thank you for your email, I have looked into this in Aaron’s absence and spoken to the Contractor.

The Keep Clear and the road markings to be replaced, are still planned to be installed and should be completed by the end of next week.
The bollards that have been agreed to be replaced have been ordered (there seems to have an approx. 3 weeks lead time for delivery) and will be installed once they have arrived.
I have asked our Senior Site Inspector to visit site today or tomorrow

We have also raised the issue of the street lights at the zebra crossing and we are told SSE are not co-operating with Elivia and wont give then a date for the completion of the lighting. We will continue to press anyone who might be able to get SSE to finish the project.
