Steve Brown

Community Hub Development.

Steve and his wife Claire have lived in the village since 1982, bringing up three sons.  He is a retired Chartered Engineer having worked mainly for local councils on roads, bridges and transport.  He has worked for Oxfordshire County Council, Oxford City and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead where he was Head of the Highways and Engineering Department.  Steve was co-opted as a parish councillor in late 2014 and took over the Chair after the local elections in May 2015.  He stood down from the chair in April 2017 to concentrate on delivering the Community Hub for the village.  He helped establish the Good Neighbours Group which started in May 2014.  In his spare time, Steve enjoys gardening, DIY and travel.

Peter Rose

Peter Rose

Chairman Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group.

Peter and his wife, Janet, moved to Long Wittenham in November 2011, having lived in Benson for the last 30 years. He had been a GP at the Benson Surgery for 31 years.  He has steered the Neighbourhood Plan for 7 years, completing the first Plan in 2017.

In his spare time he enjoys gardening and tennis.

Liz Yuille

Liz Yuille

Liz has lived in Long Wittenham since 2015.  Having had a career in insurance broking and financial crime management, she now runs an online paper crafting business from her home and delivers crafting courses locally.  She belongs to the WI, the History Group and the Abingdon Flower Club.

Steve Bolton

Steve Bolton

Steve is married with two daughters and lives on Northfield Lane Westfield Road.  He moved to the village thirty-six years ago from Appleford.  He is retired, having worked for many years at the Cowley car plant on Rolls Royce and Mini production.  He has been involved in local football for more than forty-five years and is the treasurer and groundsman for Long Wittenham Athletics Club.  He lists his other interests as real ale and clay pigeon shooting.

David Corney

David Corney

David grew up in Oxford.  He and his wife Denise have lived in Long Wittenham since 2009.  He was the Director of the Scientific Computing Department at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory until 2018, when he took partial retirement.

He has been the foot-path warden for the village since 2019, and in May 2021 started the Long Wittenham Dog club which now has more than fifty members from the village and the surrounding local area.  David can often be seen out and about the village walking his two black Labradors Henry and Winston.

Mark Thompson

Mark Thompson

Mark moved to Wessex Way with his partner Liz and Border Collie Tess in 2022.  He is a retired MOD civil servant, having previously served in the Army for twenty-three years.

In addition to dog walking, Mark’s hobbies include flying, completing a long held ambition to achieve his Private Pilot’s Licence and travel. Although new to the area and the council, Mark is one of the village’s Emergency Plan Zone Co-ordinators.
