I suppose there is no chance of properly sorting out the potholes and general bad state of the road while it’s closed. The long trench of pothole on the exit from the Bridge by the Barley Mow was ‘repaired’ very recently and is opening up again, and that’s just one example.

  2. Ann Tomline says:

I agree while the road is closed can the potholes be dealt with . The heavy traffic generated by the opening up to provide a boat house for Headington school has just caused more problems along this narrow rural road . No doubt once the work is finished we will have constant extra traffic coaches and mini buses ferrying children to the centre.
It is already dangerous for bikers as the edges to the narrow road are so full of holes the cyclists are forced into the middle of the road which is hardly wide enough for two cars t pass now.

The way things are going the only traffic will be contractors to repair flood damage with the amount of flood plain they’ve paved over and vegetation destroyed.

  3. Bill Symonds says:

When will the planners and all the various committees that are so good at telling us what is best for us finally wake up to the fact that RURAL RDS are designed and built for RURAL use. Is it any wonder that all the rural roads are breaking up under the strain of all the traffic that they were not designed for. Planners I ——— them

  4. Jeremy Goff says:

So why is the road closed at 08:30?

    • Chris Waites says:

Exactly. Still closed at 8.45am. Very annoying, no advanced signs. Suspect this is a sign of how the school intends to treat people from now on, can’t wait until there are cars parked the length of the road for events.

      • Ann Tomline says:

I watch from my bedroom window cars building up at the triangle and frustration of some drivers where a little curtesy would have helped . The morning and evening traffic through the village has increased and is even worse when there is a problem on theA34
The County Council are the people to complain to but the response will be get on our bikes!! The potholes are so deep now if I was able to cycle would worry about a fall. All we can do is:
        Keep Smiling

  5. Adrian Barnard says:

Figure I ought to add why was the road closed at 07:45 this morning, wouldn’t want the planners to think it only inconvenienced the above. I’m guessing the village doesn’t appreciate a near jam of cars travelling both ways through it either.

  6. Jacqui says:

It’s not good, no advance signs that road was closed and made me 25 minutes late for work. Is the road due to be closed tomorrow morning at 7.45?
