Sires Hill Road Closure Update

Following the appearance of Road Closed signs on Sires Hill last week, the Parish Council contacted the Network Management Team at Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) to ask why the location of the signs did not match the original closure information.

The Parish Council has received the following clarification from the contractor, Instalcom:

There will be one team carrying out these works in four phases and they will start at the junction of High Road (A4130) and move forward.  The closure will be carried out in sections maintaining access to all side roads via the diversion signs.

The locations of the four sections can be viewed on these maps: Phase1 / Phase2 / Phase3 / Phase4.

The work is expected to be completed by 1st April 2021.

Arrrgghhh – but thanks for clarification.

Could they also update the diversion route for when the road closures happen in Clifton Hampden on 20th February and March. At the present time the diversion route shows Sires Hill as part of that route, however, Sires Hill is closed.

We`ve just re-directed a London taxi-driver on Northfield Lane who was trying to get back to London (!) and had been going round in loops round Little Wittenham…..
We nearly missed our vaccination on Friday afternoon for the same reason.

I travel from Abingdon to Wallingford for work mon-fri ( essential key worker) only to find as well as sires hill being closed till 1st April, ( electric cables)I now find the roundabout into Wallingford will be closed till 1st May (water board) – with schools opening this is going to cause major delays/queues – why are the authorities not communicating and doing work at different times – absolutely sick of long diversions/ adding extra mileage and time in an already stressful time!!!!
