South Oxfordshire Public Meeting

Residents may be aware that South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is currently in dispute with the Secretary of State for Housing, the Rt Hon Robert Jenrick, over the future of its Local Plan.  He has written to SODC to say that unless it accepts the emerging Local Plan as its draft plan and let it carry on through the inspection process he will confiscate the responsibility for it and hand it to the County Council.  The details are on the SODC Local Plan webpage.

Many people in South Oxfordshire are concerned that planning powers might be taken away from the district council and a public meeting has been called to allow our elected representatives to update residents on the background and the possible consequences for our villages and rural life.  The meeting will take place next Saturday 25th January at 2pm in Holton, near Wheatley.

Invited panelists include MPs John Howell, Anneliese Dodds and Layla Moran, and Councillors Sue Cooper (SODC), Susan Brown (City), Emily Smith (Vale) and Ian Hudspeth (County).  The Secretary of State, the Rt Hon Robert Jenrick has also been invited.
