SPORT & FITNESS
Long Wittenham Athletics Club
Did you know that Long Wittenham doesn’t just have one football team, it has three! LWFC have two teams playing in North Berks League Divisions Two and Four as well as a sunday team in the Upper Thames Valley League Division Two. Set up in 1902, the footballers play on Saturday afternoons from 2.30pm and on Sunday mornings from 10.30am. Based at Bodkins Field at the eastern end of the village, all are welcome to come and watch and enjoy a game of footie! The club house is open during matches when soft and alcoholic drinks are available, and the kids can enjoy themselves on the new play equipment.
LWAC are a friendly and sociable club who are always on the look-out for new players and club members. If you're interested training is on Tuesday evenings from 7pm. As well as football the club has a thriving social calender and many of the footballers also play cricket together for Clifton Hampden CC. The Athletics Club are always looking for new activities to offer, so if you are interested in helping to set up and develop any sporting activities, like a running club or rounders team, call Bill Symonds on 407202 or emailed at WN.Symonds[at]virgin.net or visit the LWAC website for further information.
