Your Council Needs You!

Long Wittenham Parish Council wants to recruit another member to help shape the future of the village.  Currently, there are six councillors, one short of the maximum allowed.

Your parish council is involved in many key areas of local administration: representing the local community, delivering services to meet local needs, and improving quality of life and community well being.

As well as these day to day responsibilities there are specific challenges facing the village:

  • The updating of the Neighbourhood Development Plan as a result of the issues encountered at the Kler public enquiry last year
  • The design and development of the Community Hub to provide the much needed pre-school, new primary school and new village hall
  • Threats of more unwanted housing developments such as that recently proposed next to Bodkin’s Field

Parish Council Chairman Gordon Rogers said: “At various public meetings many people have shown interest for what the council is doing but we need people to join us and play an active role in moving the village forward.  Join us and play a part in shaping the future direction of Long Wittenham.”

To find out more about what being a Long Wittenham parish councillor involves, come along to a parish council meeting – the next one is on Thursday 8th March.  Or contact any of the current councillors:
