The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.
The application is for a proposed conversion of an outbuilding into habitable accommodation at Long Meadow, Northfield Lane, Long Wittenham.

what3words is the simplest way to talk about location. Street addresses were not designed for 2020. They are not accurate enough to specify precise locations, such as building entrances, and do not exist for parks and many rural areas. In a bid to bring some cheer to the village next Spring, the Parish Council has purchased a quantity of daffodil bulbs which it would like to see planted throughout the village.
If you would like a free bag of bulbs that you could plant in your front garden, either in the ground or in a pot, or even in the grass verge outside your property, then the council would love to hear from you. A Sounding Board meeting of the Didcot Garden Town (DGT) project, for town and parish councils within the area of influence, was held last Tuesday evening (22nd September) via video link.

Residents will be aware that the emerging South Oxfordshire Local Plan is currently at the Examination stage. Following recent examination hearings, the Planning Inspector has asked South Oxfordshire District Council to prepare a ‘Schedule of Proposed Main Modifications’ to the plan.

There will be no appeal by the Parish Council to a decision by Oxfordshire County Council to refuse permission for a change in status of Northfield Lane from a footpath to a bridleway.
At the September meeting of the Parish Council, Tom Bowtell, who was chairman at the time of the original application in 2013, said that the reason for the application was that there had been conflict between horse riders and farm traffic, but since then the issue appeared to have been resolved.
