Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has announced that there will be changes to all services currently operated by Going Forward Buses from Monday 2nd September.
The D1 Service between Wallingford and Didcot which calls at Long Wittenham will now run on Mondays and Wednesday only. OCC will be operating the service.
See the revised timetable below.
Brilliant! You can take a bus to Didcot at 12.46 on Wednesday and either return immediately or wait until the following Monday. What genius devised that timetable?
Hi, thanks for your kind comment about my geniusness or otherwise.
It was me that devised it, broadly based on the existing one which has run for some time. It is not designed to take people in on that bus, passengers should get the first one in if they want to go to Didcot. The 12.46 is the one that (a) some people get if they want to pop in to Wallingford and (b) might as well run because the bus has to get to Didcot somehow.
For any further pleasantries, please contact public.transport@oxfordshire.gov.uk.
If they really had to reduce our bus service from 3 to 2 days a week, it would have been better to have kept the Friday service so residents could visit the farmers’ marketin Didcot or Wallingford.
Luckily there is still the Oxford Bus Company 95 to Didcot (Mon-Fri) but it’s an early start and doesn’t return till late afternoon so you’re stuck in Didcot for nearly 7 hours!
The Friday service has not run for months – it was withdrawn ages ago. So it is not really being cut now.
