Revd David Haylett writes …
As some residents may know, Revd Jo Allen, who has been our House for Duty Team Vicar for the last two years, has resigned. As is the custom when Team Vicars resign, her last Service will be in Dorchester Abbey on Sunday 1st March at 10.30am.
There will be no other Services in our Churches on that Sunday.
The Revd Jane Manser and I will be taking Services following the normal pattern during the interregnum.
That’s a shame – Did she give a reason?
As a friend of St Mary I am interested to know if St Mary’s is available for entry during the day if I were to visit . I still class Wittenham as home having been raised there at Swiss Cottage in the 50’s and I think that Rev David Haylett may remember my Mother Olwen Brooks . I seem to remember a book stall at Mercy’s many years ago run by David , but I could be wrong.
Dear Jane
Yes I do indeed remember you Mother, I used to run a plant stall not books, but well remembered.
We have a team of volunteers who should open St Mary’s every morning and lock up again late afternoon or early evening. The system is not infallible but usually works!
Best wishes
David
Dear David,
That’s great to know , thank you so much,
Kind Regards,
Jane
