A resident of Appleford writes …
Last Tuesday morning, an unacceptable amount of litter, including spent BBQ waste, soft drink cans and bottles, food wrappers from burgers, crisps and sweets, sun tan lotion, socks and a Nike T shirt plus more was found at a popular spot beside the Thames between Appleford and Long Wittenham.
A member of the Appleford community needed to use a wheelbarrow to remove the waste and an online report was made to the Thames Valley Police. It may have been caused by a group of year nine students who were seen throwing food about.
This spot is visited by people from Wallingford and Didcot as well as the neighbouring villages so posting this message is not an accusation, but a plea to remind everyone that our public places belong to us all, and to behave responsibly for the sake of our wildlife, pets, children and community.
Thank you.
This is unacceptable but unfortunately it happens,I hope the person who reported it cleared it up ,as I have done a few times over the years ,I honestly think the police have more to do .
