Residents will remember that planning permission was granted in June 2019 for a £2m rowing boathouse on the Thames between the village and Clifton Hampden, opposite Lower Farm.
The project by Headington School includes a two-storey building, wet dock and landing stages.
The planning permission specified a number of conditions and the school has had to suspend work on them during the virus emergency. It says that it is now “optimistic” about the future and wants to start work on the project again in the New Year.
School bursar Richard Couzens said: “It will probably take around six months to complete all the planning conditions and then it is down to the school governors to decide when to start construction. We hope it will be in mid-2021 but much depends on the Covid-19 position, weather conditions and construction costs”.
