Village Bell Ringers

Thanks to the wonderful support from the village, individuals and groups, the St Mary’s bells restoration has been completed and the village bell ringers are up and ringing once more.

The bells are a joy to ring, and a joy to hear.

Village Produce Show

Villagers who intend to submit entries to the Produce Show, which will take place on Saturday 11th September at St Mary’s Church, are reminded that entry forms must be completed and put in the submissions box at St Mary’s Church by Sunday 5th September.

All residents are invited to view the entries at the church between 2pm and 4:30pm on the day of the show.  Refreshments will be available in the churchyard.

Athletics Club News

A new management team is in place at Long Wittenham Athletics Club as it prepares for a new season in the North Berks League.  A new secretary has been appointed and the club plans to step up social activities to raise funds for a £20,000 extension to the pavilion.

The first team is led by Jamie Newport who was brought in last season to help with reserves and who was promoted this season.  Jamie has played for Wittenham in past seasons and has also been a member of Wantage Town and Didcot Town playing Continue reading

A Message From The Parish Council

The new houses under construction by Vanderbilt Homes are now well under way, foundations laid and block work going up.

With any building site comes an inevitable amount of noise and dust which can cause a nuisance to residents.

The Mikado

Following it’s much acclaimed performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera The Pirates of Penzance in 2019, Opera Anywhere is returning to Long Wittenham to perform Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado at St Mary’s Church at 7:30pm on Saturday 25th September.

The show will be presented by the The Friends of St Mary’s, in aid of the church.

Residents across Oxfordshire are being asked to help shape a new air quality community website, which will assist in raising awareness and understanding of air pollution across the county.

St Mary’s Summer Club

St Mary’s Church is hosting a Summer Club for children aged between five and eleven, from 10am to 12.30pm on Monday 23rd to Friday 27th August, in the Church and Churchyard.
