Residents Invited to Join 20mph Working Group

At last week’s Parish Council meeting, two residents, Ron Carter, who lives on the Didcot Road, and Gabriel Hemery, who lives on the Little Wittenham Road, presented their ideas for how traffic calming should be implemented in their respective parts of the village.

2021 Census

The Parish Council has been asked to remind residents that the census for England and Wales will take place on Sunday 21st March.  All households are required to complete the census; failure to do so could result in a fine of up to £1,000.

South Oxfordshire Among Top Recyclers

Residents in South Oxfordshire are among the top recyclers in the country, yet again!

The Government recently published figures showing how much waste is recycled across the country.  South Oxfordshire District had the second highest recycling rate in England with 64 per cent of its waste being recycled. Continue reading

20mph Zone Update

A third meeting of the working group to discuss proposals for a 20mph zone through the village was held last week, attended by parish councillors, Oxfordshire County Council’s consultant Colin Davis and county councillor Dr Pete Sudbury.

Footpath Warden News

Our village footpath warden, David Corney, has jointly written an article with the Earth Trust about the permissive footpaths provided and maintained by the trust, and he has asked the Parish Council to share it with residents.

A34 Lodge Hill Road Improvements

Plans for major road improvements on the A34 at Lodge Hill are now available to view and comment on at a virtual exhibition.

The aim of the improvements is to increase junction capacity, providing new access, and shortening journey times.  The work will include new roundabouts to improve traffic flow and reduce local congestion.  It will also support new housing development and economic growth in north Continue reading

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at 10 Fieldside, Long Wittenham, is to extend the existing ground floor extensions side and rear with first floor over, and a new single storey ground floor front extension composed of storage area and porch. Continue reading
