Neighbourhood Plan Update

Delays still plague progress on the revised Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP).

The main issue surrounds archaeology, as the county archaeologist requires more excavation on the extended Community Hub site.  The geophysical survey that was requested has now been completed and the county archaeologist will decide what additional excavations are required.

Royal Mail Scams

We have had reports that residents in Saxons Heath and Westfield Road have been the targets of a scam where they have received text or email messages saying that Royal Mail has attempted to deliver a parcel and in order to receive it they must pay a fee.

This is one of several similar scams of which Royal Mail is aware.  There are more details and information about how to report the scams on the Royal Mail website.

High Street Cycle Lanes

Residents will have noticed that the work has finished on new cycle by-pass lanes in the High Street opposite Red Barn and number 35.

The new features are designed to make it safer for cyclists and form part of the cycle route linking Didcot with the Culham Science Centre.

The Village Remembers

More than thirty people gathered at the war memorial yesterday (11th November) to remember those villagers who gave their lives in the First World War.  Concerns about Coronavirus failed to lessen the public’s commitment to the event.

Oxfordshire Libraries Click & Collect

Although the Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) library service is currently unable to open libraries for browsing, it is offering a new free service for customers of all ages who are interested in a new way to explore books and reading during lockdown.

To access the service, residents need to complete a short online form available on the council’s website, telling the library what sort of books they like to read and how many they would like. Continue reading

Vanderbilt Homes Amendments

Vanderbilt Homes has submitted another set of amendments (dated 31st October) to its planning application for the housing development on the corner of Fieldside and Didcot Road.

There are six new documents, including a new presentation layout plan, storey heights layout plan, tenure layout plan, unit type layout plan and garden areas layout plan.   Unfortunately, there is nothing that identifies how the new documents differ from the previous versions. Continue reading

Councils Call For More Help

District Councils in Oxfordshire have called on the Government for more financial support as Covid-19 continues to hit the fragile economy and puts increasing pressure on local services.

In a letter to Robert Jenrick, the Housing Communities and Local Government Secretary, the councils spell out the serious consequences the Coronavirus is having on local authorities following the second lockdown announcement.

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has written to the Government stating strong objections to several proposed reforms to the current planning system.
