Waste Collections Starting Earlier

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has asked the Parish Council to inform residents that waste collections are starting an hour earlier this week due to the very hot weather.

This is so that the waste crews can avoid being out when the weather gets too hot.  Residents are requested to put their bins out before 6am.  As usual, you can put them out the night before if that is more convenient.

Monday and Wednesday Bus Service to Return

Going Forward Buses, which operates services between Long Wittenham and Didcot, hopes to start running a limited service on all routes but using only one bus from Monday 6th July.

There is an emergency timetable which will probably apply until September when the situation will be reviewed.

Government advice is not to use public transport unless it is absolutely essential.  Instead people should walk, cycle or use cars.  For health and safety, only a few passengers will be Continue reading

Please Recycle Responsibly

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is reminding residents to ensure that waste and recycling bins are used correctly.

Thousands of residents in South Oxfordshire find their recycling bins unemptied each week because they have put the wrong things in them.

Putting non-recyclable items in recycling can contaminate a whole truckload, which is then rejected at the recycling facility.  This turns neighbours’ recycling into rubbish and Continue reading

Coronavirus Testing Scams

Age UK Oxfordshire is warning of scammers who continue to try to take advantage of vulnerable people during the Coronavirus outbreak.

The latest scam tries to convince people that they have been in contact with someone who has been tested positive, pretending to be Track and Trace.  They then either ask for money to send them a test, or try to get hold of their personal details.  Everyone needs to be on their guard if they get a phone call or text. We all know how important outdoor space is for young children.  This is why the LW Pre-School Trustees had hoped to hold a number of fundraising events during the Summer term to raise money to help improve and revitalise the garden.

Given the current situation they have had to rethink these plans.  They are now calling on parents and the community to help by making a pledge of time, getting creative at home, or donating an item from their Amazon wish list.  Here is how you can get involved: Continue reading
