Didcot and Surrounding Area Infrastructure Consultation

A reminder that the Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) online consultation on the latest transport infrastructure plans within Didcot and the surrounding area ends on Thursday 30th April.

The plans include the widening of the A4130, the Science Bridge, the Didcot to Culham River Crossing and the Clifton Hampden Bypass.

Remember Our Past Heroes by Supporting Today’s

As the commemoration of VE Day on 8th May approaches, can you help to “Remember Our Past Heroes by Supporting Today’s” by donating personal care items, edible treats and handmade thank-you cards?

On Sunday 10th May a contactless drop off system will be setup at the Village Hall from 10am to 2pm.  Strict social distancing rules will be in place.

Businesses Urged to Submit COVID-19 Grant Requests

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has asked the Parish Council to pass on this information to residents:

Businesses in South Oxfordshire that are yet to submit their details for grant support in response to COVID-19 are urged to do so as soon as possible.

Bulky Waste Collections

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has reopened its paid-for bulky waste collection service for large household items and is also issuing a warning about fly-tipping while other outlets for domestic waste remain closed.

The bulky waste collection service was temporarily stopped to allow the council’s waste contractor, Biffa, to prioritise the important kerbside household collections while members of their waste collection crews were off sick or self-isolating. Continue reading

Earth Trust Resists Virus Impact

Like many charities in Oxfordshire, the Earth Trust – one of the major countryside land management bodies in the county – is experiencing financial challenges as the Coronavirus continues to disrupt economic and social life.

In a letter to supporters, the chief executive, Jane Manley, says they need to protect the heart of the organisation and be in a position to build again from a strong platform once the restrictions have been lifted and the economy recovers. Continue reading

Volunteers Busy in Virus Emergency

With the Coronavirus emergency unlikely to be lifted by the government until May at the earliest, the Volunteer Group in Long Wittenham continues to offer help and support to residents.

Since the lockdown, volunteers have been busy helping isolated and lonely people with a host of errands including prescription collections from Clifton Hampden surgery and pharmacies in Didcot and Wallingford, carrying out shopping trips, and providing transport for people to get to hospital appointments.
