Women’s World Day of Prayer
This year’s service to celebrate the Women’s World Day of Prayer will be in St Mary’s Church on Friday 6th March starting at 7pm. World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women for prayer and action for peace and justice.
This year, the liturgy has been prepared by the Women of Zimbabwe with a theme of “Rise! Take your Mat and Walk”. There is more information on the World Day of Prayer website. Continue reading
Emergency Plan
The Parish Council is in the process of revising the village’s Emergency Plan, which would come into effect if there was a serious incident that could endanger the community.

Oxfordshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan Consultation
Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has published the Draft Minerals and Waste Local Plan: Part 2 Site Allocations Plan (the Sites Plan) for consultation and it is seeking the views of residents.
The preparation of the Draft Sites Plan follows on from the adoption of the Minerals and Waste Core Strategy in 2017. Waste/Recycling Tours
The Parish Council has been asked by the Waste Recycling Officer of South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils to let residents know that tours of the Severn Trent Green Power Anaerobic Digestion Plant in Wallingford, which deals with food waste, and the Viridor Energy Recovery Facility at Ardley, which takes the black bin waste are available this year. The tours are allocated on a first come, first served basis and all start at 10am.

Report Those Potholes!
Residents will have noticed the epidemic of potholes on the High Street. The Parish Council is reporting them to Oxfordshire County Council Highways Department as and when they are noted, but they are likely to be dealt with more quickly if other people report them as well.

SODC Climate Emergency Advisory Committee
South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) declared a climate emergency on 11th April 2019, which recognised the need for it to lead the way in reducing carbon emissions to help the county to limit the negative impacts on climate breakdown.

South Oxfordshire Public Meeting
Residents may be aware that South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is currently in dispute with the Secretary of State for Housing, the Rt Hon Robert Jenrick, over the future of its Local Plan. He has written to SODC to say that unless it accepts the emerging Local Plan as its draft plan and let it carry on through the inspection process he will confiscate the responsibility for it and hand it to the County Council. Help the NHS Help You This Winter
The NHS Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group has asked the Parish Council to distribute the following information to residents.
Winter is traditionally the busiest time of year for the NHS, and so patients are being reminded to only use Emergency Departments in Oxford and Banburyin an emergency.
Didcot Road Works Consultation
Oxfordshire County Council is seeking the views of residents on proposals to construct a humped zebra crossing and relocate the existing traffic calming on Didcot Road, in order to improve road safety for pedestrians in the vicinity of the adjacent Vanderbilt housing development on the corner of Fieldside and Didcot Road.
