Wristbands, Cakes and Guys
Today is the last day to buy Bonfire Night entry wristbands from the school office as it will be closed from Monday 28th November for half term. You will still be able to buy them from Clifton Hampden Post Office next week, or on the evening itself, but don’t delay, as once the wristbands are gone, there are no more.

Cheers to Apple Day!
The fourth annual Village Apple Day proved a huge success and saw 768kg of apples weighed, checked, chopped, mashed, milled, bottled, pasteurised and labelled. Altogether nearly 400 bottles of juice were produced.

Permissive Path Rights Agreed
The legal agreement has been now signed between the Parish Council and Reading University giving the public official access to the path across West Field from the wooden footbridge to the cyclepath near Acklings.
Permissive Path rights have been agreed between all parties including the tenant farmers Emmett Brothers. It means that pedestrians and dog walkers will be able to use the path without trespassing. Continue reading
Bonfire Night Wood Collection
It’s less than a couple of weeks until the Village Bonfire Night on Saturday 2nd November and now is the time to sort out any wood that can be used to build the bonfire.

Some Enchanted Evening
Residents who were lucky enough to get a ticket for Opera Anywhere’s performance of The Pirates of Penzance at St Mary’s Church last May, will remember the wonderful singing of the female soloists.
Three of the Opera Anywhere sopranos have formed their own operatic group called Sorelle and The Friends of St Mary’s have booked them to perform at St Mary’s on the evening of Saturday 7th December. Village Apple Day – 20th October
A reminder that this coming Sunday is Village Apple Day at the Sylva Wood Centre. Organised by Wittenham Warriors and hosted by the Sylva Foundation, it offers you the opportunity to have your home grown apples turned into delicious juice.
Bring along boxes or bags of washed, dry apples that are free from bruising and mould to the Wood Centre between 10am and 12noon. Your apples will be weighed to calculate how many bottles of juice they will provide and you will be issued Continue reading

The Gatehouse Christmas Present Appeal
Residents will be aware that for over fifteen years the villagers of Long and Little Wittenham and Clifton Hampden have been providing sandwiches and cakes once a month for The Gatehouse in Oxford, a charitable organisation that provides hot drinks and food daily throughout the year for the homeless.
