Wittenham WI and the ladies running the Church Fete Craft Stall invite all Needle-workers, Craft-workers & Handy-workers to a fun workshop on Saturday 6th August from 10am to 3pm (approx) in the Village Hall.
Come and learn some fresh skills and make new friends!

The Oxfordshire Mobile Library Service will cease to operate in September. Here is the announcement from Jillian Southwell, Library Service Manager for Oxfordshire Libraries (Jillian.Southwell@oxfordshire.gov.uk):
“I am writing to confirm that, regretfully, the mobile library service in Oxfordshire will cease to operate in September.
As part of the Neighbourhood Plan process, the Steering Committee commissioned an independent group of villagers led by Mike Wynne-Jones to produce a character assessment of the village.

Residents of Long Wittenham are invited to an open meeting in the Village Hall on Friday 17th June at 7:30pm to discuss the final draft of the Neighbourhood Plan.
The Neighbourhood Plan is nearing completion and the Steering Committee has called the meeting to get the residents’ views on the final plan before it is submitted for approval.
It will also be an opportunity to meet Chris Brotherton of Thomas Homes, who has been appointed by the Parish Council to help plan the housing and hub development. Thomas Homes specialise in community projects and have recently designed a new village hall for Marcham.
Don’t forget to get that red, white and blue bunting down from your attic today so that that you can bedeck your dwelling to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday.
The children of the village will be celebrating in patriotic style at the Royal Tea Party in the Royal Gardens of The Plough Public House, on Saturday between 2.30pm and 4.00pm.
The Long Wittenham Parish Council’s formal objection to the planning application for the development of up to 36 houses on the field at the corner of Fieldside and the Didcot Road can be read here.
On Monday 8th August at 7.30pm, Bishop Colin will formally welcome me into my new role as Curate in Charge (Associate Team Vicar) of the Bridge Group of parishes at a licensing service at Dorchester Abbey. As you can imagine, I am extremely happy and excited to be joining the Bridge Group and cannot wait to begin getting to know you all. All parishioners are welcome at the service.
