The Parish Council has been asked by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) to promote its new website for young people in Oxfordshire.

Oxme.info provides information, support and resources on various topics relevant to young people, including learning, work, activities, health, and wellbeing.

Acklings Playground Opening

Last Friday 27th June, on a beautiful sunny afternoon, the Parish Council was delighted to officially open the new children’s playground at Acklings.

Over thirty children with their families turned up to see Anthi Michellis, aged six and daughter of the project designer, cut the ribbon.  The children swarmed over the area, testing out the new equipment which cost almost £100k to build. Continue reading

Opening of Acklings Playground

The Parish Council is pleased to announce the opening of the new Acklings Playground.

The event will take place on Friday 27th June.  The gates will open at 4:45pm and there will be a short opening ceremony at 5pm. Following this, the playground will be open to all.

Please note that until this event, the field will be closed as final safety checks are awaited.

Bereavement Volunteers Wanted

Earlier in the year, Sobell House Hospice asked the Parish Council to let residents know that it was recruiting Bereavement Volunteers.

Although the appeal was partially successful, it is still short of its goal so they have asked the council to publicize it again.

The training for the new Bereavement Volunteers starts in September 2025. Continue reading

Village Apple Day and The Community Orchard

In 2017, Sylva Foundation created the Wittenhams Community Orchard at the Wood Centre, opposite St Mary’s Church.  Its planting was supported by grants, and by sponsors (‘cropsharers’) who elected to have a share in the future produce of the orchard. Continue reading
