Potholes

There was a long discussion at last Thursday evening’s parish council meeting about the state of the roads in the village and particularly the road to Clifton Hampden.

Our County Councillor Johnny Hope-Smith, who was present, said that every division in the council was experiencing the same problem.  He said that the more that residents raise the issue with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) Highways, the more ammunition he has for making the case for repairs in his area.

Residents are urged to report potholes regularly on Fix My Street.  Photographs should always be included, if it is safe to do so, as these reports carry much more weight.  If you are unable to include a photo for safety reasons, please note this in the information you submit.

Residents are also encouraged to report any damage to vehicles caused by potholes to Oxfordshire County Council.  Whilst it is unlikely you will receive any compensation, “the louder we shout, the more likely we are to be heard”.

Pot holes, what pot holes? I wonder if our new fancy road signs will help provide the money to find and fix them. I seriosly doubt it. Bill Symonds

This over years constant patching is false economy spend the money and totally resurface OCC needs to look at the waste in their budgets on courses in diversity etc and put it into the highway budget . There is only so long you can patch anything before it isn’t viable anymore.
Why are Councils not paying if your car is damaged?

I have just reported 5 dangerous areas on Fix my Street complete the photos.
Please do the same and back up my reports and we may actually move up the list and have them fixed.

Hi Bill. Our fancy new road signs were paid for almost entirely with a grant that the PC obtained from the Police.
They have not used any cash that could have been put onto fixing our worn out roads.
