BT are already rolling out digital supply here, we have been “ converted”. If you feel you are “vulnerable”, make sure they supply you with the battery back up, particularly if your mobile signal is poor ( or you have no mobile phone).

If you change to a digital line then the common CORDLESS (portable) phones will NOT work in a power cut. However, you can plug a CORDED phone (e.g. Argos BT Duet 210 Corded Wall Mountable Telephone – Single 552/8460) into the socket at the back of the BT router and it will work with the Battery Back-up unit even in a power cut.
If you wish to use a cordless phone during a power cut, then it will have to be plugged into a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). We’ve been using a UPS for years to keep the desktop computer On even during a power cut; these are available from Amazon (e.g. APC BACK-UPS ES – BE650G2-UK – Uninterruptible Power Supply 650VA (8 Outlets, Surge Protected, 1 USB Charging Port).
