Energy Meter Readings

The Parish Council has been asked to pass the following information on to residents.

People are advised to take gas and electricity meter readings on 31st March, regardless of the type of meter, smart or otherwise.  Ideally a photo of both meters showing the readings, meter serial number and the date stamp.

Fly Tipping Campaign

The Oxfordshire Resources and Waste Partnership, made up of all the councils in Oxfordshire, has launched a campaign to “SCRAP Fly Tipping” by making people aware of their responsibilities when it comes to disposing of their waste.

Residents are being urged to follow the S.C.R.A.P. code to avoid fines and prosecution:

Community Hub Update

More than fifty people attended a day long consultation at St Mary’s Church last Saturday (19th March) to discuss plans for the Community Hub.

There were five sessions, with about thirty residents attending the first session to discuss the village hall and school.

Village Playgrounds

The Parish Council has arranged for some minor repairs to be carried out at Bodkins and Acklings playgrounds next week.

On Monday 21st March, some of Bodkins play area will be out of use while the repairs to the swings and climbing frame are done.

On Tuesday 22nd March, the picnic table at Acklings will be taken apart and repaired so it will not be in use. Continue reading

Book Talk at St Mary’s

The author of Landmark in Time – The World of Wittenham Clumps, Peter Adamson, is coming to St Mary’s Church in May to talk about how and why his book came to be written, and about the  challenge of making each of the twenty chapters tell a story about the things that fall within view of the Clumps.

Council Tax ‘Rebate’

Thousands of council tax payers in South Oxfordshire will soon receive a £150 council tax ‘rebate’ to help with rising energy bills.

The government has announced that most households in council tax bands A-D will be eligible for the rebate, however, the ‘rebate’ will not be taken off residents’ council tax bills when they are issued.

Neighbourhood Plan Update

The latest public consultation on the Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) was completed on 8th March and all the responses have been sent to the examiner for his opinion.  The future timetable will depend on how quickly the examiner completes his report.

In a letter to the Parish Council, South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC)’s assistant planning officer Rosalynn Whiteley said that the council expects to receive the examiner’s fact checking report by the end of March. Continue reading

Parcel Deliveries

Royal Mail has asked the Parish Council to advise residents that, with immediate effect, 24hr and 48hr tracked parcels will no longer be left unattended at our doors unless the recipient requests that their parcel be left in a safe place.

If you have ordered something that will be 24/48hr tracked and receive a notification from Royal Mail of delivery, you must request a ‘leave in a safe place’ or desired location for delivery, if you will not be home.  If not, the postman cannot leave the delivery without Continue reading
