Fireworks Night – Tickets on Sale

Tickets for Village Fireworks Night 2025 are now on sale.

This is one of the highlights of the village calendar and it always sells out, so be sure to book early.  Even better, grab your tickets now and take advantage of the early-bird prices (available until 10th October).

Fireworks night will take place on Saturday 1st November.  Expect a wonderful community evening at Ward’s Field with a bonfire, delicious food, a cash BBQ and bar, and of course a spectacular fireworks display by Illusion Fireworks.  Gates open at 6:00 pm, bonfire lighting at 6:45 pm, and the fireworks begin at 7:00 pm.

High Street Chicanes Consultation

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the recent consultation about the chicanes on the High Street.

Unfortunately, there was a disappointing number of respondees with only 38 from a total of 762 people on the village’s electoral roll.  Out of those, 19 were in favour of immediate removal of the chicanes and the other 19 were against the removal, wanted to wait, or were unclear in their thoughts. Ward’s Field Trees

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) for Long with Little Wittenham churches writes …

Recently, safety signs have been put up along the unofficial footpath under the trees in Ward’s Field to help protect everyone who uses it until work is done.  There are some trees at risk of falling down.  These signs are there for good reason; they help to prevent accidents and keep people safe. Community Hub Update

The Parish Council’s agent and partner developer, Thomas Homes, submitted full plans for the Community Hub development of forty-five new homes, a new village hall and importantly, a new primary school in 2023 and were given delegated approval of the plans in early 2024.

Harvest Celebration

Come along to St Mary’s Church on Sunday 5th October at 3pm to celebrate harvest.

There will be tea, games and fun for friends and families.  There is no charge but harvest gifts (tins and dried goods are best) will be collected to be taken to the Didcot Food Bank. Continue reading
