Forgive my ignorance but what on earth are ferrule exchange works?? Any excuse to dig up the road rather than fix the multitude of potholes all the way between the Cross and Clifton Bridge. That road is a total disgrace!

Google AI: “Thames Water performs ferrule exchanges as a routine part of its network maintenance and repair work, often necessitating temporary road closures in the Thames Valley area. A ferrule is a fitting used to connect a customer’s service pipe to the main water pipe in the street.”
