The Boundary Commission has published proposals to reduce the number of MPs in Parliament. If the proposals go ahead voters in Long and Little Wittenham could be casting their ballot in a new parliamentary constituency at the next general election due in five years’ time.
Under the plan, voters in the Wittenhams would move out of the Wantage Constituency held by Conservative Ed Vaizey into a newly created East Oxfordshire Constituency which is largely the current Henley seat held by John Howell for the Conservatives.
Both MPs command large majorities so politically the switch for Wittenham voters to a new East Oxfordshire area is unlikely to make much difference.
Voters have until 11th December to comment on the proposals. You can view an interactive map showing the new boundaries and comment here.
