Oxfordshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan Consultation

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has published the Draft Minerals and Waste Local Plan: Part 2 Site Allocations Plan (the Sites Plan) for consultation and it is seeking the views of residents.

The preparation of the Draft Sites Plan follows on from the adoption of the Minerals and Waste Core Strategy in 2017.  The Core Strategy set out the vision, objectives, spatial planning strategy and policies for meeting development requirements for the supply of minerals and the management of waste in Oxfordshire over the period to 2031, and the Sites Plan sets out those mineral and waste sites needed to deliver the Core Strategy.

The last consultation on the plan was in 2018, and following this consultation, site assessments and evidence gathering, OCC has now identified its Preferred Options – those sites which can best deliver the policies within the Core Strategy.  This draft Sites Plan sets out the preferred mineral extraction and waste management sites that it believes will be needed in Oxfordshire, including where they should be located, up to 2031.

This is an important opportunity for residents to express their views on planning for minerals and waste development in Oxfordshire.  The responses from this consultation will inform the next stage of the Sites Plan preparation (Submission Draft) that will be subject to a further round of consultation which is expected in September 2020.

  1. Jane & Richard May says:

Are any sites identified adjacent to Long Wittenham, eg The Quarry at Clifton Hampden?

    • Martin Elliff says:

I can’t find any reference to Clifton Hampden in the document. It does refer to a site at Culham on page 32, but as a site not suitable to be allocated.
