Vanderbilt Name Change

Residents may have noticed that Vanderbilt Homes, the company that is building the housing estate on the corner of Fieldside and the Didcot Road, has undergone a name change.  It is now Elivia Homes.

Crayfern Homes, a company based in Hampshire, West Sussex and Dorset was acquired by Vanderbilt in 2019.  The resulting new company has been rebranded as Elivia Homes.  Vanderbilt Homes was founded in 2004 and now operates as Continue reading

Council Tax ‘Rebate’ Update

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has issued an update on the £150 ‘rebate’ that the government is providing to help households in council tax bands A-D with their energy bills.

It is about to start making rebate payments to households that pay their council tax by direct debit and will be sending a letter to all those homes to advise them to keep an eye out for the £150 ‘rebate’ going directly into their bank account.  The council expects to pay up to 68% of households this way. Litter Pick Report

Volunteers were busy along the roadside and river collecting rubbish in the village last Saturday.  Organiser Clifford Bosley said: “Altogether we filled twenty-five sacks.  Among items collected were what appeared to be a portable toilet, motorcar parts and a car tyre.  Other items found along the main road were baby nappies and women’s sanitary products”.

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at Lovegrove Barn, Fieldside, Long Wittenham, is for the construction of new detached car port and store.

Village Litter Pick

A reminder that the Spring Village Litter Pick will take place tomorrow (Saturday 23rd April – St George’s Day).

Sign in at the Village Hall from 10am.  All the necessary equipment will be provided.  Children are very welcome.
