The Thames Travel bus service between Didcot and the Culham Science Centre via Long Wittenham is being discontinued from the end of this Friday (19th November) because of poor passenger numbers and a shortage of almost eighty drivers.
A new service is planned for January with the help of money from the Ladygrove expansion near Didcot.

People who use pharmaceutical services in Oxfordshire are being asked to give their views on whether current services are meeting the needs of the population.
Residents have until 9th January 2022 to comment on Oxfordshire County Council’s new pharmaceutical needs assessment (PNA). The PNA is a report on all the NHS community pharmacies in the county and also includes those family doctors who are permitted to dispense medicines as a pharmacist would. Continue reading
Annual free parking is provided by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils to encourage people to shop locally for their Christmas presents, and is even more important this year following the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The free parking days allocated to each area are agreed with the individual town councils depending on which day would best suit local traders.

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.
The application at Northfields Farm, Long Wittenham, is for a new agricultural lean-to building, which will be used to store hay, machinery and as a lambing shed, during the lambing period.

The Parish Council has a new member. Ron Carter was co-opted on to the council at its last meeting on 11th November.
Ron has lived at his home on Didcot Road for the last fifty-two years along with his late wife Dorothy. They were married for forty-eight years. Both Ron and Dorothy went to the village school and he went on to complete his education at St. Birinus School in Didcot. Continue reading

Long Wittenham remembered its First World War dead on 11th November at the village war memorial to commemorate Armistice Day 1918. Fourteen soldiers from the village lost their lives in war zones in France and Palestine or died from wounds.
Pupils from the Primary School took part in the ceremony. They read the names of the roll of honour and brief biographies of some of those named on the stone memorial. Small wooden crosses were laid in the grass surrounding the memorial. Continue reading
