Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at Long Wittenham Athletics Club, is to enlarge two existing changing rooms, adding a toilet in each room; knock down and rebuild the existing referee room; build a female referee room and larger female toilets; and utilise the existing female toilet as a disabled toilet.

Cyclepath Upgrade

The Parish Council has been advised by Sustrans, the custodian of the National Cycle Network (NCN), that it plans to upgrade the section of route NCN5 that runs from the west end of the village to Moor Ditch (see map below).

Footpath Warden News

Good news from our Footpath Warden, David Corney, who has been pressing Oxfordshire County Council to repair footbridges around the village.  He has been advised as follows:

Dog Club Up and Walking

The Long Wittenham Dog Club is now underway with around thirty people registered so far.  Note that it is not a pre-requisite to have a dog to join the group.  There have been two organised walks so far – thanks to Sally Duff and Rob Calcutt for leading these.

The Pound Tidy-Up

The Pound has undergone a major spruce-up in readiness for the Summer.  On Saturday, a team of volunteers spent more than two hours weeding and cutting back foliage in the community garden on the High Street.
