Acklings Lease Renewed

The Parish Council has renewed the lease with St John’s College, Oxford for the Acklings play area at the west end of the village.  The new eight-year lease runs until 2029.

According to records in the Parish Council archive, the field was first leased from St John’s College in 1987.

The village Pre-School uses a section of the field for its ‘Forest School’.

20mph Zone

A 20mph zone through Long Wittenham is edging closer.  The village is one of three areas in South Oxfordshire chosen as pilot schemes to reduce traffic speeds and pollution as part of the ‘Green’ agenda.

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application is for the demolition of the existing rear extension and garage, and a new two storey side and part rear extension and single storey rear extension at 2 The Crescent, Long Wittenham..

Sires Hill Closure Update

On 8th February it was reported here that the roadworks on Sires Hill are being carried out in four phases, starting at the Wallingford Road end and progressing towards the Didcot Road.  The fourth phase will be the section of Sires Hill from the junction with Didcot Road to the junction with Lady Grove as shown on this map.

Saxons Heath Noticeboard

The public noticeboard at the entrance to Saxons Heath is to be moved to a new site on the green.

Vanderbilt Homes Update
