Age UK Oxfordshire has asked the Parish Council to inform residents of a campaign entitled Share Your Warmth.

Athletics Club Plans

Long Wittenham Athletics Club has outlined ambitious plans for future developments on Bodkin’s Field, including an expansion of the existing clubhouse and long-term plans for tennis courts and adult exercise equipment.

The club wants to enlarge the club house with improved changing rooms, a new referee’s room, women’s match officials’ room, women’s toilets and a toilet for disabled people. Continue reading

Maddy Boathouse Update

Residents will remember that planning permission was granted in June 2019 for a £2m rowing boathouse on the Thames between the village and Clifton Hampden, opposite Lower Farm.

Support for 20mph Speed Limits

On an intiative by our County Councillor, Dr Pete Sudbury, the County Council has passed a motion to support 20mph limits in built-up areas across the county.

SODC Local Plan Adopted

Following a Government direction to progress the Local Plan 2035 through to examination and adoption, councillors at South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) have voted to adopt the plan.

The Plan and its supporting studies set out the future for development in South Oxfordshire up to 2035.  It identifies locations for housing, retail and employment land as well as the infrastructure required to support this growth.  The policies in the development plan are the starting point for making decisions on Continue reading

High Street Parking Restrictions Consultation

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) is seeking the views of residents on a proposal to introduce double yellow lines on the northern side of the High Street at the newly reconfigured traffic calming build-out feature.

The proposal is being put forward to address inappropriate parking in the immediate vicinity of the traffic calming island which is preventing the safe use of the bypass lane by cyclists.  OCC hopes that the measure will free-up the carriageway immediately before and after the feature, and ensure safer passage and Continue reading

New Advice Telephone Line

Oxfordshire South and Vale Citizens Advice has asked the Parish Council to inform residents that it has a new free advice line number which will enable more people in South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse to get help from its advisers.  The number is 0808 278 7907 and is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
